For the past 20+ years I have gone by the name Iris, which is, in case you didn’t know, also a great song by the Goo Goo Dolls, a beautiful flower and the colorful part of the eye. Little known it is, that Iris was also the female counterpart of Hermes, being a messenger of the gods, in Greek mythology.
As a child I wanted to become a conqueror, pirate or crazy scientist. Later on I swapped those ideas with more realistic ones of becoming a writer, children’s book illustrator and tea house manager. Eventually I started studying landscape architecture and urban planning, but I always stayed curious and explorative.
Moving around places and exploring the world is not only a passion of mine but something I consider of being the fuel of my very being. After graduation I am planning on travelling the seven continents and working as a planner, amongst other things, until I get tired of it and settle down at one place.
What I value most are honesty, respect and determination. I believe the purpose of living is to pursue one’s dreams and work towards making the world a place worth living for future generations. This includes being open-minded towards the various cultures and diverse ways of living and a respectful and, I dare saying, sustainable handling of the natural environment.
When I travel to new places I love to learn about local habits and try to blend in as much as possible. I also love being out in the nature, either by foot or mountain bike, and would pretty much always chose a wilderness trip over a night at the club. Indeed, I am an introvert who has some extravert moments at times.
